Enter the historic caves of the Golden Temple of Dambulla, dating back to the 1st century BC. View the ancient murals depicting the life story of Lord Gautama Buddha. Look at the hundreds of figurines of Buddha and other deities scattered throughout the five main caves. Visit the Cave of the Divine King, Cave of the Great King and the Great New Monastery. See the giant golden Buddha Statue just a little distance outside the cave complex.

Minneriya National Park

This safari takes you on a ride through the Minneriya National Park. Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress

Climb the 5th century AD rock fortress, Sigiriya, where the King Kasyapa ruled. Walk through the entrance framed by the paws of a lion that is quite appropriate for its name, ' the Lion Rock'. View the beautiful unfading murals that brought Sigiriya its fame. Climb the steep staircase to see the terraced gardens and still-working cisterns. Walkthrough the tunnels leading to the palace as you get a feel for times long past. Thereafter visit a local village in Sigiriya and get an authentic experience of Sri Lankan village life. (Travel Time – 20 to 30 mins) Get a chance to go on an oxen cart ride, and experience the world from the view of a village farmer. Have a relaxing catamaran safari through a calm lake. 1 Day in Sigiriya

Your first day in Sigiriya, you will be visiting a few important sites which marks great importance in Sri Lankan history. The Golden Cave Temple consists of a number of caves filled with murals and divine figurines while the giant Golden Buddha statue can be seen from a distance. Next is a safari ride through the magnificent Minneriya National Park which you can experience the Great Elephant Gathering during the dry season. There are many mammals and wildlife who come to quench their thirst by the Minneriya Tank.

Day 2

The following day en route to Colombo, you can stop over at the Sigiriya Rock Fortress which has edifice of a palace atop the stony mountain. With beautiful wall painting of maidens half way through the climb, you will be amazed by the ruins of a once royal kingdom in ancient Sri Lanka. Next in store is a village tour in rural Sigiriya where you can ride on an oxen cart, enjoy a catamaran safari, walk through paddy fields, and experience a cookery demonstration and finally enjoy a home cooked village lunch served stop lotus leaves. You will then return to Colombo to end your tour.
