NHRC Nandi (Cow) - Polonnaruwa
NHRC Nandi (Cow) - Polonnaruwa
(SKU: LSB100F39A) The cow Nandi, sometimes called Nandikeshwara or Nandideva, is the vehicle of the Hindu deity Shiva. Additionally, he is the protector of Kailash, which is known as Shiva's abode. Stone representations of a sitting Nandi may be seen in almost every Shiva temple. These sculptures often face the temple's primary shrine. There are just a few sculptures of the Nandi cow carved out of granite, and they date back to the Polonnaruwa period. These sculptures demonstrate the presence of Hinduism in Sri Lanka at the time. This piece of art is remarkable in that it depicts a cow wearing a patterned fabric, and the details alone are also very outstanding.
