The 2 chalets comprise of 2 double bedrooms with en-suite toilets while the rooms open out to the private verandah that offers guests beautiful views of the Kalpitiya lagoon. Each bedroom has the capability to accommodate 4 guests while they are equipped with a king sized bed, soft crisp white linen, a mosquito net, mini bar, fans and air-conditioning. The units consist of glass sliding doors while toilets include a bath and shower with hot water. The chalet also boasts of a view of the sunrise from the bed.

The Ruwala Resort which is located approximately 16km away from the Northern end of the Kalpitiya Peninsula is the perfect setting for comfort and wilderness combined. Guests are offered the choice of chalets, cabanas and a campsite while there are a number of conveniences that are ideal to spend your holiday peacefully. Location of Ruwala Resort, Kalpitiya

Located in the remote fishing village of Thihaliya along the banks of the scenic Kalpitiya Lagoon, the Ruwala Resort spans on a 9 acre land filled with coconut groves. The resort is ideally located about 16km away from the tip of the Kalpitiya peninsula while the drive from the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake takes less than 2 hours. There are taxis available to and from the airport at any given time of day. The distance from Colombo to Kalpitiya is approximately 167km.

The Ruwala Resort along with its Nature and Adventure Park in Kalpitiya offers comfortable and contemporary accommodation units. Guests can choose from spacious chalets and cozy cabanas while the more adventure loving visitors can choose to camp by the lagoon. The cabanas and chalets consist of en-suite toilets while the chalet is air-conditioned with glass sliding doors. The camp site is also well equipped with summer tents and cadjun huts with beds. Bunker type showers and toilets are available for campers to make use of.

Facilities at Ruwala Resort, Kalpitiya

An open plan restaurant at the Ruwala Resort can easily accommodate a number of 40 guests. The restaurant also boasts of a rooftop terrace with cement seats where guests can enjoy picturesque views in fine weather. A range of International and local cuisine is served while the freshest seafood and vegetables are always purchased from the locals in the area. BBQ facilities are available for guests as well.

Overlooking the restaurant is the infinity edge swimming pool and Jacuzzi that beautifully compliments the Kalpitiya lagoon beyond. The kiddies' pool is found amidst a palmyrah grove. The center-court of the resort consists of a grove of palmyrah trees which are over a 100 years old. This area also consists of an open air hangout area with easy chairs, hammocks and bonfire facilities as well.

The property is also equipped for boating, fishing and kayaking in the Kalpitiya lagoon along with camping and wall climbing. Safety gear is available at the resort. The Ruwala Resort also boasts of a petting farm with a number of domesticated animals.

This is home to wild elephants, leopard, and the sloth bear while the drive from the resort is about 2 hours.

About North Western Province
